Most of the MacBooks that come through our workshop have one of a handful of problems. Knowing which one yours has helps you decide quickly:
- Cracked or flickering screen. On MacBook Pro and MacBook Air the glass and panel come as one display assembly. Flicker or a dark screen that changes as you move the lid is often the display cable rather than the panel. See Mac screen repair.
- Battery that drains fast, or a trackpad that clicks badly. A worn battery shows "Service Recommended" in System Settings; a swollen one pushes up the trackpad and should be replaced straight away.
- Sticky or repeating keys. Very common on the 2016–2019 MacBook Pro and Air butterfly keyboards. See Mac keyboard replacement.
- Won't turn on or charge, or died after a spill. Usually a logic board fault. We repair boards at chip level instead of replacing them, which costs less and keeps your data. See logic board repair and liquid damage repair.
