Liquid does its damage in two stages. First it shorts live circuits. Then, over the following days, the residue corrodes the board. Acting quickly limits both.
What we do
- Strip the Mac down and remove the logic board
- Clean the board ultrasonically, to remove residue and corrosion
- Find and replace the damaged components
- Test the keyboard, drive and battery, which are often affected too
Questions
Should I put it in rice?
No. Rice does not remove liquid from the board, and the delay lets corrosion set in.
What does a liquid damage repair cost?
An average logic board repair is £195 to £350 + VAT. See the liquid damage terms.
Will my data survive?
Usually. If the drive is affected, we can recover the data.
