The customer had an Apple MacBook Pro (MB166LL/A) (17-inch, Early 2008) A1261 pre-unibody model with 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (T9300) processor with 6 MB on-chip shared L2 cache and this 17-inch MacBook Pro notebook had an NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics processor with 512MB of GDDR3 SDRAM.
The customer had complained that the Apple MacBook Pro had a black screen on start up due to a faulty NVIDIA graphics processor. NVIDIA, in July 2008, openly admitted failure of some of their graphics processors due to a packaging defect.
